VAT schemes, view-as, and a place in Xero’s New & noteworthy apps

New Improved Fixed
  • New Rooby is featured in New & noteworthy apps on the Xero App Store — Xero’s curated shortlist of recently published apps. You can see the listing and our reviews on the Xero App Store.
  • New VAT scheme support — flat rate is now estimated from your flat rate percentage against turnover, and cash accounting is calculated on a payment-date basis rather than invoice dates, so the forecast matches the return you will actually file.
  • New View as client — firm staff and Rooby founders can open a client’s portal dashboard to see exactly what the client sees. It is strictly read-only, scoped to your own account’s clients, and every entry and exit is audited.
  • Improved Set-aside tracking now shows what you should have accrued to date and how far behind that you are, rather than only the total put by.
  • Fixed Foreign-currency VAT is now converted on the accrual path, and VAT liabilities are identified by their period end rather than their display label — which had let a renamed period create a duplicate row.

Graduated per-client pricing

New Improved
  • New Pricing is now graduated, like a tax band — £10/client for your first 20, £7 for clients 21–100, £5 after that. Crossing a threshold only changes the rate on clients above it, never retroactively.
  • Improved Billing quantity now locks at the start of each billing period instead of updating live. A client added mid-cycle isn't billed until the next one; a client removed mid-cycle isn't refunded for the current one. No proration either direction.

Xero OAuth signup, explainable workings & dashboard redesign

New Improved Fixed
  • New Sign up with Xero — accountants now authenticate via Xero OAuth instead of email/password. One click from the marketing site to inside the product, with the firm account, 14-day trial, and first Xero client connected automatically. Business owner signup is unchanged.
  • New Explainable tax breakdown — every CT and VAT liability now shows a full calculation chain (revenue → costs → profit → losses brought forward → taxable profit → rate → Corporation Tax) so accountants can verify the number line by line. Clients see a plain-English one-liner instead.
  • New Override persistence — losses brought forward and associated companies count are editable inline in the accountant view and survive every sync. The CT figure always recalculates live from these inputs.
  • Improved Client dashboard now focused on CT and VAT only — Self Assessment, Payment on Account, and Accounts Filing removed from the client view
  • Improved Confidence percentages replaced with honest projection signals: “Final figures” or “Projected · based on X of Y months booked”
  • Improved Admin portfolio list now shows plain status signals (Overdue / Due soon / On track) instead of a numeric health score, with CT and VAT amounts visible inline per client
  • Improved Individual client admin view rebuilt as a two-column desktop layout — Tax Position and Manage side by side, no scrolling required for most clients
  • Improved Business health score and action recommendations removed from the client experience
  • Fixed Corporation tax projections were understated due to an off-by-one error in the annualisation period (11 months instead of 12) — corrected
  • Fixed Projections now use settled months only, excluding the most recently completed month to account for unreconciled transactions
  • Fixed A failed dashboard load no longer silently shows “no tax due” — a proper error state is now shown with a retry option
