Terms of Service
1. About this service
Rooby (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a tax dashboard service operating from 51–59 Rose Lane, Norwich, NR1 1BY. It connects to Xero or QuickBooks Online accounting software to surface upcoming tax deadlines, estimated liabilities, and financial planning data for accountants and the businesses they advise, including limited companies and sole traders.
By accessing Rooby you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not share your account or allow others to access it.
If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@rooby.co.uk.
3. Nature of the information
Rooby provides estimates and projections based on data drawn from your connected Xero or QuickBooks account. The figures shown are for planning purposes only and do not constitute formal tax advice, a filed return, or a confirmed HMRC liability.
- Corporation Tax estimates are based on reported profit/loss and statutory rates, actual liability depends on your CT600.
- VAT figures reflect data in your accounting software and may not account for adjustments not yet posted.
- Self Assessment estimates are indicative only.
You must always verify tax liabilities with your accountant before making payments. We accept no liability for decisions made solely on the basis of figures displayed in Rooby.
4. Data and your accounting software
Rooby connects to Xero or QuickBooks Online using OAuth 2.0. We access read-only financial data (reports such as profit & loss and balance sheet, and the invoices, bills, expenses and payments behind your VAT figures) from your connected Xero organisation or QuickBooks company. We do not write or modify any data in Xero or QuickBooks.
Access tokens are stored securely and used only to retrieve your financial data for display in Rooby. You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting in Rooby, through Xero’s connected apps settings, or from the connected apps in QuickBooks.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Rooby to:
- Attempt to access another user’s data
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data by automated means
- Circumvent authentication or security measures
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
6. Availability
We aim to keep Rooby available but make no guarantee of continuous uptime. The service may be unavailable during maintenance or due to factors outside our control, including Xero or QuickBooks API outages.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rooby shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the service, including but not limited to interest or penalties charged by HMRC.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Rooby after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated by email.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
