Rooby exists because we got tired of the same problem every practice faces: clients calling about their tax bill, and us scrambling to pull numbers from Xero into a spreadsheet.

Our story

The problem we kept hitting

Every quarter, the same thing happened. A client would ring: "What's my CT bill looking like?" And we'd open Xero, export the P&L, open a spreadsheet, manually add back depreciation and entertaining, look up the current rates, check whether marginal relief applied, and give them a number.

Then the next client would call. Same process. Same spreadsheet. Same 30 minutes of manual work for something that should take 30 seconds.

We looked for a tool that would do this automatically. Something that connected to Xero, applied the current rules, and gave us a live number we could trust. We couldn't find one that worked the way an accountant actually thinks.

So we built it.

Who we are

Rooby is built and run by a practising accountancy firm.

We manage bookkeeping, tax compliance, and advisory work for trades and construction businesses across the UK. That means we use Rooby ourselves, every day, on our own clients.

Accountant-first

Every feature is designed around how accountants actually work. Not how a product manager imagines they work. We build for the daily workflow, not the conference demo.

Transparent by default

No black boxes. Every number shows its workings. Every calculation is explainable and auditable. If you can't verify it, you can't trust it, and we wouldn't expect you to.

Honest about scope

Rooby tells you what it can calculate and flags what it can't. We'd rather say "review manually" than give you a wrong number and let you discover it at year-end.

Built for UK tax

We're not a global platform localised for the UK. We're built from the ground up for UK Corporation Tax, UK VAT schemes, HMRC rules, and the way UK practices work.

How we got here

The road to Rooby

2024

The spreadsheet that wouldn't die

Started with a shared Google Sheet calculating CT for clients. Manual entry, constant errors. Better than nothing, but barely.

Dec 2025

Decided to build it properly

Built Rooby as a real product, Xero API, live CT and VAT calculations, multi-client dashboard, and the explainable workings we always wished our tools had.

Early 2026

VAT, health scoring, and extraction scenarios

Expanded to VAT forecasting, CIS reverse charge, a 15-component health score, and director extraction scenario modelling.

May 2026

Open to other practices

Rooby is now available to accountancy firms across the UK. Every feature from here is shaped by the accountants using it daily.
